Getting Here
Giglio island is located in the southern tip of Tuscany and can be easily reached by car, train or plane. Regardless of how you travel, the destination is the small port town of Porto Santo Stefano on the Monte Argentario peninsula, from where the ferries leave for Giglio.
by Car
Coming from northern Italy, drive via Genoa/Pisa or Florence/Siena in the direction of Grosseto – the small provincial capital of the Maremma – and then take the Aurelia expressway to Albinia. After the exit follow the indications for Porto S. Stefano (Monte Argentario) for about 12 km.
by Train
by Plane
The closest airports to the island of Giglio are in Pisa and Rome. In Rome you will find two airports, Ciampino and Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci), where the latter is better connected to the Aurelia motorway and local trains. Both Pisa and Rome are around 160 km from the port of Porto S. Stefano.
Ferries
There are two ferry companies for the island of Giglio, Maregiglio and Toremar, offering between 4 and 10 crossings per day. If you are arriving by car, we recommend booking the ferry well in advance.
The holiday begins with the crossing of about 1 hour, during which you can enjoy the wonderful views of the Tuscan archipelago.
In cooperation with Giglioinfo.it you can check the times and rates of both ferry companies online and book the tickets eventually. On their website you will also find the timetable as an PDF:
